Hakomi MEthod

SOMETIMES THE WORK NEEDS TO GO DEEPER
AND THE BODY IS THE KEY.

When insight alone no longer creates change, the body often holds the doorway into what comes next.

Some experiences, beliefs, and patterns live deeper than thought. They remain stored in the nervous system long after the conscious mind understands them.

This is where somatic therapy can become a powerful support for healing, integration, and growth.

For individuals in Washington State*, I offer a mindfulness-based somatic approach called Hakomi Method.

*If you are located outside of Washington, I offer Enneagram Coaching and The MAP assessment rather than clinical therapy services.

The Hakomi Method is an approach developed by Ron Kurtz that integrates somatic healing techniques along with the principles of Taoism and Buddhism to create a gentle yet powerful approach to healing trauma and access the unconscious, blending somatic therapy with depth psychology, shadow work, and mindfulness.

This method helps uncover unresolved experiences from the past by tuning into the body’s responses and innate wisdom to show what the conscious mind cannot see.

Together, the therapist and client explore these past memories to uncover the missing nourishment or support needed for resolution and healing. Rooted in compassion and guided by the client’s pace, Hakomi creates a deeply transformative space for growth and wholeness.

What is the Hakomi method?

How it Works

A guided somatic experience that lasts 55min.

What it looks like

✷ A discussion about what you are hoping the discover
✷ An assessment of what the body is currently communicating
✷ An invitation to explore more
✷ Identifying thoughts, images, feelings, sensations, or memories that live in the body that open gateways towards healing and release of old wounds.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

Sessions are guided, but do not push you into territory that you or the body are not ready to go. My job is to help you assess your bodies readiness, not to make something interesting happen. This work is gentle, slow, but deep and evocative. Prior experience with mindfulness is recommended*.

*If this work sounds interesting, but perhaps you aren’t ready yet, consider mindfulness exercises or Enneagram Coaching as a first alternative. Enneagram coaching helps build insight and readiness. Mindfulness builds practice in letting go of thoughts that take a person out of their body and the present moment.
